The collaboration between Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and the Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) is a student-led initiative to raise awareness and advocate for bone marrow donation.
The main objectives of "SP x BMDP" include:
- Advocacy and Awareness: Educating the public, particularly the student community, about the critical need for volunteer bone marrow donors in Singapore.
- Donor Recruitment: Encouraging more people to sign up for Singapore's only public register of volunteer bone marrow donors, which is managed by the BMDP.
- Support BMDP's Mission: Aiding the BMDP in its goal of finding a matching donor for every patient diagnosed with leukaemia and other blood-related diseases, for whom a bone marrow transplant might be their last chance of survival.
The initiative involves various activities, such as information sharing sessions and social media campaigns, to clarify the donation process, dispel myths, and motivate potential donors to join the register.
