We are excited to share the success of our recent collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on the remarkable art installation “Wander Around: A Whimsical Classroom.” Held between 18 and 27 October 2024, this unique event showcased the creativity of local cardboard sculpture while highlighting key themes of environmental sustainability and mental wellness.
The installation featured a classroom-themed setting, brought to life by large-scale sculptures crafted entirely from repurposed cardboard. These creative works of art emphasised the value of embracing sustainable practices and the importance of rethinking waste.
The event further served as an interactive platform for promoting mental wellness. Young visitors were encouraged to express their thoughts and emotions through drawing and writing on the sculptures, transforming them into dynamic expressions of creativity and community connection.
A standout feature of the event was the cardboard robotics workshop, where participants explored creativity and engineering by building functional models from recycled materials. This further demonstrated the power of innovation and sustainability.
We thank Bartholomew Ting, our talented cardboard artist, for his creative vision and dedication to bringing this event to life.
This collaboration reflects Singapore Polytechnic’s ongoing commitment to fostering sustainability, creativity, and community engagement, paving the way for more impactful initiatives in the future.
